Regional Chamber Collaboration to Help Drive Business Resilience and Economic Recovery

Regional Chamber Collaboration to Help Drive Business Resilience and Economic Recovery

Mike Skelton, GMC President & CEO

While we know the COVID-19 pandemic is not over, New Hampshire officials, businesses, and residents should be proud that our collective efforts, and sacrifices, have led to a significant slowing of the spread of COVID-19 and near containment of the virus. These gains were not without costs. Almost all businesses have been impacted in some manner, and some are at significant risk of closure moving forward.

Building resiliency within our business community and driving economic recovery is critical to the next phase of fighting the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Chamber is excited to be partnering with the State of New Hampshire and other Chambers from across Southern New Hampshire to meet this challenge.

Earlier this summer, Governor Sununu announced the creation of a Chamber Partnership Program using funds from the CARES Act to help augment and enhance the State’s economic recovery efforts. Managed and organized through the Department of Business and Economic Affairs, our Chamber is serving as the regional lead of a coalition of seven Chambers from Southern New Hampshire, joining six other regional coalitions from other parts of the state.

The “Southern New Hampshire and Capital Region Chamber Coalition” will soon be launching and unveiling a series of programs aimed at supporting and driving the economic recovery of businesses from across this part of the state. While Chambers are collaborative by nature, I’m pleased and excited to share that this program is fostering an unprecedented level of collaboration that will provide all businesses from Southern New Hampshire new tools, resources, and information to adapt and recover from the impacts of COVID-19.

In the Chamber industry, we are fond of the saying “a rising tide lifts all boats” as it so well encapsulates the idea that by working together as a business community in pursuit of shared goals, we can accomplish results far beyond what is possibly working in isolation. With this program directly bringing together so many like-minded Chambers together for the first time, I believe we can achieve a powerful rising tide of economic support that will help lift up and support businesses at a time when we are all trying to navigate uncharted waters. Stay tuned for more information on this exiting initiative and please know that your Chamber is working hard to lead this program and collaborate with our partners so we can best serve you, our members, no matter what challenges lie ahead.
